What is Academic Freedom?  What is Freedom
of Choice in Education?

1.  It is ironic that traditional educators believe in academic freedom for themselves, but not others.  In other words, if traditional educators believed in genuine academic freedom, they would be vociferous advocates of nontraditional educational alternatives.  Such is not the case.  They only believe in academic freedom for themselves and seek to deny such freedom to others.

2.  Compulsory primary and secondary education rests on the assumption that your kids belong to the state.  If we buy that assumption, then the state decides what our values are rather than parents.  Hitler's Germany and the Nazis were similarly rigid in their control of public education.

3.  The same may be said about higher education in the United States.  Government control of higher education is even more insidious, in that, government bureaucrats presume to tell adults how, what, why, where, and when they may learn.  Whatever happened to freedom?

"The greatest thing about earning my graduate degree from The American Colleges was that when I was finished I had a body of written work that amounted to about 200 pages, which I had bound and keep for reference.  It was my first book!

It has also been valuable because when I showed my employer, who paid the tuition, he was very impressed with the quality of work I produced and the fact that the College is focused on adult learners, not teenagers.

As a matter of fact, my employer was so impressed that he went to The American Colleges website to review their programs and ended up enrolling himself."
