Specifications for
Study
A. Mini-Commentaries
All study of God must begin with the Bible. Therefore, all of our degree programs begin with a study of the 66 books of the Bible. Students are asked to write commentaries/critical summaries of each book of the Bible.
Each commentary/critical summary is to be a minimum of 1,000 words, which amounts to about 3 and 1/2 pages, 12 point type, Calibri font, and double spaced.
Commentaries are to be guided by the following 5 questions:
1. What is the author's main purpose in writing?
2. What are the main points made by the author in support of his or her purpose in writing?
3. What conclusions are drawn by the author in furtherance of his purpose?
4. Do the points made and the evidence offered support the conclusions drawn?
5. How will you apply the information learned from study of this material to your life?
B. Your Own Systematic Theology
Each student must write his or her own systematic theology. A systematic theology answers the question: Taken as a whole, what does the Bible teach?
The writing of a systematic theology results in the formulation of doctrine. Doctrines are summaries, categorizations, and propositional statements about the major issues of biblical teaching.
